Kathryn Germain, Psy.D., NCSP

Kathryn Germain, Psy.D., NCSP, is both a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a Postdoctoral Clinical Psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She has extensive training working with youth ages 5-18 years. Dr. Germain has provided therapeutic services in academic and clinical settings. Dr. Germain also conducts comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessments for social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and intellectual disorders.
Dr. Germain strives to foster a safe and inclusive environment for her patients and families by building genuine and trusting therapeutic relationships. She practices from an individualized, integrative approach, using various evidence-based treatments to support clients as they gain insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Each patient is unique; therefore, each patients’ therapy process should be unique. Dr. Germain has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Restorative practices. She enjoys working with individuals presenting with anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, ADHD, OCD, and behavioral challenges.
Dr. Germain is a graduate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and trained in the School Psychology program. She completed her APA-approved Predoctoral Internship at Frost Academy in Main Township High School District 207. Frost Academy is a public therapeutic day school working with adolescents presenting primarily with emotional disabilities. While at Frost Academy, Dr. Germain provided individual therapy to students and co-facilitated a social skills group for students within the district. Dr. Germain also completed practicum training at Bear Elementary School in Chicago, IL, at Roslyn Road Elementary School in Barrington, IL, and at Connections Academy East in Lake Forest, IL. She provided therapeutic interventions to students with autism spectrum disorders and emotional disorders. Throughout her experiences in the school systems, Dr. Germain has gained valuable experience with the IEP process. Throughout graduate school, Dr. Germain was an ABA therapist and provided in-home services to children with autism and their families.
