Melissa Bravo, D.Ed

Melissa Bravo, M.Ed., NCSP, is both a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a Postdoctoral Clinical Psychologist who is bilingual in Spanish. Dr. Bravo specializes in working with children ages 3-18 years and their families in both academic and clinical settings. In addition to providing individual and family therapy, Dr. Bravo conducts comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessments for social, emotional, behavioral, developmental and intellectual disorders in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Bravo emphasizes the role of family in helping children and adolescents overcome social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. She uses evidenced based treatments to overcome these obstacles while empowering parents to understand, connect with and help their child become successful. Dr. Bravo specializes in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing in her treatment. Because of Dr. Bravo’s experience as a school psychologist, she has the unique expertise needed to understand, interact with, and promote optimal functioning within the school setting. Dr. Bravo works closely with families to incorporate their cultural values into therapy sessions.

Dr. Bravo is a graduate of the School Psychology program at Loyola University in Chicago. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Palatine School District. Dr. Bravo’s training experiences are primarily with Early Childhood and Middle School Settings, providing both therapeutic, behavioral and academic supports.
